Ad Design Tools

The toolbar lists various tools that you can use to design your ad.

Details of the tools are as follows:

  • Details: Core information about the ad.
    • Size: This dropdown allows you to select the size of your ad. This is a mandatory field.
    • Layout: This dropdown allows you to select the layout type (template) that will serve as the basis of your ad. For more details, see the Ad Templates section. This is a mandatory field.
    • Description: Description of the ad. In addition to being how the ad is identified in the MediaKoi platform, the Descriptionis part of the UTM tags that are created by the system for external links. This is a mandatory field.
    • Reference ID: This allows you to add any sort of internal ID you may use to track your ads. The Reference ID is part of the UTM tags that are created by the system for external links. This is an optional field.
    • Ad Server/DSP: This field sets the DSP for the ad. If you have set this at the campaign level before creating this ad, this information will be inherited from the campaign. For more details, see the Selecting an Ad Server/DSP for Your Campaign Section. This is a mandatory field.
  • Style Guide: Define various aspects of the ad such as font, colors, etc. For more details, see the Style Guide section.
  • Menu: Display a menu function in your ads. This is an optional feature.
    • Menu Type: This allows you to select the menu type and it's behavior.
    • Background: This allows you to set the background color for the menu. You can use the color picker, or type in the hex value for the color you wish to use. Note that you can also set the alpha channel for the color, allowing you to give a transparency to the menu, allowing for the background to remain visible.
    • Gallery: Sets whether the image Gallery option will appear in the menu.
    • Gallery Description: Sets whether the image descriptions will appear over the gallery images. Note that the text color is taken from the text Style Guide definition.
    • Gallery Navigation: This allows you to set the color for the navigation arrows that appear in the gallery. You can use the color picker, or type in the hex value for the color you wish to use. Note that you can also set the alpha channel for the color, allowing you to give a transparency to the menu, allowing for the background to remain visible.
  • Plugin: The MediaKoi platform allows for integration with 3rd party tools, services, and compenents to extend functionality of your ads. The plugins section is still in development but will launch soon. Until then, if you have need for a custom feature for your ads, please contact us so that we can discuss. This is an optional feature.
  • Location Search: Define the location search function within an ad. Tool name and functionality are business vertical-specific. This is an optional feature.
    • Locations: This tool is available to most business verticals, allowing consumers to search for physical or digital locations, or events that will be occurring at a location. For more details, see the Locations Tool section.
    • Showtimes: This tool is specific to entertainment clients, allowing consumers to search for theaters and showtimes near them. For more details, see the Showtimes Tool section.
  • Video: Define the button(s) to play the video uploaded for the Campaign. This is an optional feature.
    • Button type: This allows you to set the button type. Button is a system generated button. Overlay is a button that is part of the background image.
    • Placement (State 1): This allows you to set the size of the button. This is done by mapping the top left and bottom right corners. This can be done by entering the X,Y cordinates for each corner (tlX,tlY,brX,brY).
    • Placement (State 2): This option allows you to set a secondary position for the video button, after a search has been performed. This is done by mapping the top left and bottom right corners.
    • Text/Tooltip: For a system generated button, this allows you to set the text that will appear in the button. In addition, this is the tooltip that appears on mouseover of the button, regardless of type. 
  • Buttons: Define a button to link to any external link.
    • Button type: This allows you to set the button type. Button is a system generated button. Overlay is a button that is part of the background image.
    • Placement (State 1): This allows you to set the size of the button. This is done by mapping the top left and bottom right corners. This can be done by entering the X,Y cordinates for each corner (tlX,tlY,brX,brY).
    • Placement (State 2): This option allows you to set a secondary position for the button, after a search has been performed. This is done by mapping the top left and bottom right corners.
    • Destination URL: Defines the URL for where the button should direct the user.
    • Text/Tooltip: For a system generated button, this allows you to set the text that will appear in the button. In addition, this is the tooltip that appears on mouseover of the button, regardless of type. 
  • Background: Define the background of your ad. Note that multiple backgrounds can be included in a single ad, whether the ad swaps backgrounds on interaction (Image -> Secondary Image) or layers files (Image over Video). For more details about the various options, refer to the Background Design Tools section.

As you enter your updates into the various tools, the system will automatically refresh the preview and save each change to the ad.
