Understanding Ad Layouts and States

MediaKoi offers flexible options for how your ads look and behave, especially as users interact with them.

Layout Options

You can choose between two main layout options for your ad backgrounds:

  • Regular: This is the default. Your background images or videos will cover the entire ad background and remain static throughout.

  • Split: This dynamic option splits the background vertically in half when a user interacts with the ad. When this happens, the left side of the ad will display a new image (set under Background > Secondary Background), while the right side will show a solid color (defined in your Style Guide > Secondary Background).
Pre-interaction (State 1)
Post-interaction (State 2)

Ad States

"States" refer to different modes your ad's user interface (UI) can switch into based on user interaction. This allows your ad to transition to different layouts as a user engages with it. All ad templates support the concept of states, and whether a state is visible depends on how the user interacts with your ad.

  • State 1 (Load): This is the default view of your ad. It's what users see when the ad first loads, or when they choose to return to this primary view after interacting.
  • State 2 (Engagement): This is an alternate view that appears when a user interacts with the ad to view specific information (like "About" details or a "Location Search"). This interaction causes the ad's layout to change.

The transition between these states can be either temporary or permanent, depending on the action taken within the ad. For example, if a user views the "About" section via the menu (triggering State 2), they can usually return to the "Load" view (State 1). However, certain functionalities, like a location search, will keep the ad locked in State 2.
