Video Formats
The MediaKoi platform supports two distinct types of video for use in your ads: MP4 and Streaming.
MP4 (Standard Background Video)
These are video files primarily used for background video and are uploaded directly via the Ad Design Tools.
Important Note: MediaKoi currently does not process video files for compression upon upload. If your video has not been compressed for online use, please contact us for assistance.
Specifications:
- Supported Codecs/Container:
- Video Codec: H.264
- Container: MP4
- No audio allowed.
- Dimensions should match the size of the ad for optimal display.
- We recommend a runtime of no more than 10 seconds.
- File size is critical as this directly contributes to the overall size of the ZIP package delivered to your ad server. Larger files can potentially impact the ad's performance, depending on the user's connection and device.
- This video type is set to play on a loop within the ad. For a better user experience, we recommend that the transition from the end to the beginning of the file is as seamless as possible.
Streaming Video (Longer Content & Live Feeds)
Streaming video is designed for longer content, such as extended background videos, trailer/commercial-type videos, or even live video. For specific details on live video, please refer to the Live Video section.
Streaming files are delivered from a global video CDN (Content Delivery Network). Currently, these video files must be delivered to MediaKoi for ingest. Please contact us for detailed delivery instructions.
Specifications:
- Most common accepted formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, M4K, MKV. Other formats may also be used but require advance testing to ensure compatibility.
Unflattened reference files are NOT supported.
Recommended Codecs/Container:
- Video Codec: H.264
- Audio Codec: AAC
- Container: MP4
- While we can accept mezzanine files, we recommend the source's bitrate not exceed 25 Mbps, as higher bitrates will slow down processing without improving output quality.
- The file should begin at picture start, with slate and blacks removed.
- The file should end at picture end.
- Letterboxing should be removed.
Audio:
- Sound formats: Mono, Stereo (delivered as Stereo or Ch1 + Ch2).
Subtitles:
Subtitles must be ingested at the same time as the video file.
We recommend subtitles be delivered in the following formats (listed in order of preference):
Embedded CEA-608 subtitles.
TTML sidecar file.
- Only hh:mm:ss.sss time format is supported. Any other time format will result in an error.
