Adding YouTube Video Content
To feature video content within a campaign, MediaKoi utilizes YouTube’s hosting infrastructure while maintaining a seamless visual experience on your site. This process involves extracting the specific source link from the YouTube embed code and placing it within the project settings.
The Landscape Video Field
The primary video for your campaign is managed within the Details tab. You will find a dedicated text box labeled Landscape Video, which is designed to house the direct source URL of your video.
How to Retrieve the Video Link
Because the system is designed to display the video in a custom player container, you cannot simply copy the URL from your browser’s address bar. Instead, you must pull the source link from the YouTube embed code:
- Locate the Video: On the YouTube video page, click the Share button and select Embed.
-
Extract the Source: Within the block of code that appears, look for the
src=" "attribute.Copy the URL: Highlight only the web address found inside the quotation marks.
- Example:
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dQw4w9WgXcQ
- Example:
- Paste into MediaKoi: Enter this link into the Landscape Video text box in the Details tab.
How the System Uses This Link
Once the link is added to the system, MediaKoi performs the following actions:
- Custom Embedding: The system injects this link into a pre-configured, responsive
<iframe>container that matches your site’s design. - Aspect Ratio Management: The Landscape Video field is optimized for a 16:9 cinematic aspect ratio. The system ensures the video scales correctly across desktop, tablet, and mobile viewports.
- Analytics Integration: By using the
/embed/version of the link, the system can more accurately trigger the video progress signals and engagement tracking discussed in our .
Critical Requirements
- Embed Links Only: The system requires the
/embed/path. Standard watch links (e.g.,youtube.com/watch?v=...) will not render correctly in the campaign player. - Privacy Settings: Ensure the video on YouTube is set to Public or Unlisted. If the video is set to "Private," the system will be unable to pull the content, and users will see a playback error.
- No Related Videos: The system is configured to prioritize your content; however, using the correct embed link structure helps prevent YouTube from showing competitor "related videos" at the end of your playback.
